random thoughts – Day 1,233 – (Wednesday) – scenic walk

Under the sculpture.
The weather is still in the beautiful zone and it is good. The A/C at work is fully functioning and seems to be making up for the days it was on sabbatical with a very enthusiastic and exuberant performance of its duties. I took advantage of the beautiful outdoor weather to take a walk around downtown and defrost at lunchtime.

There was an attempt to document the walking with the seldom used Map my Walk app, but it got stuck on an ad for some sort of upgrade and I gave up. Unfortunately, without the statistics, the walk doesn't exist in the fitness portal, but the scenic route was well documented with photos, which is probably better. Maybe I can repeat the route later this week to track the distance and satisfy my curiosity.

The walking route took me to a close up view from under the owl sculpture atop the bridge near Lowell Memorial Auditorium. Supported by bamboo poles, the delicate metal work spans the bridge and watches over the water.

Sculpture near the Concord River.
From one bridge, it was across the street to another and a pause where the Concord River meets Pawtucket Canal. Near the river, there is another sculpture with cubes that reflect the sky and move in the breezes.

A path runs along the canal to Central Street, then it was a nice walk down Market Street, up Palmer, along Middle, and then back to the office. It was a nice walk in perfect weather conditions – not too hot and not too humid.

The leg that is the cause of the physical therapy held out pretty well during the adventure. The aches of yesterday had dissolved and were replaced with new twinges in new spots, but it isn’t too awful.

It’s been another of those weird weeks where time passes extra quickly, then suddenly slowly, sometimes standing still, and then zipping by in a flash. This is against the backdrop of a year that is flying by at a breakneck pace. It is somehow already August and I forgot to dig out the crown and initiate the birthday month celebration sequence because my brain is still back somewhere in May. Where did the time go? Make it slow down. Please.
