There was no adventuring today. Some minor housekeeping events occurred, but mostly it was another heavy investment in R&R. There was reading on the porch with coffee. Netflix. Taking Win outside then back inside every couple hours.
A chunk of time in the afternoon was spent looking for a
hotel for the Vegas trip in October. The key factor is proximity to my niece’s
home. Breakfast included would be nice, because it is a vacation after all. There are a few hotels three miles from Niece’s home, but those are closer to the Vegas Strip and much
more expensive than the other hotels which are across town and a 20- to 25-minute
drive away. Ugh. I really, really miss
the days of travel agents that handled all this stuff.
Brown Bunny! |
I expected Brown Bunny to bolt when I scooped up Win and took
him inside, but he stayed put. I looked outside every few minutes as I chopped
Winston’s chicken for the week and prepped his supper, and Brown Bunny remained
in the irises far longer than usual. He chomped on some of the faux grass greenery edging
the flower bed. It was cool.
In the final assessment of the day, it was a mix of boring grownup
stuff with a hint of summer days when I was a kid. I lounged about and did as
little as possible. Instead of a book, it was email and far too much news read on
my phone, but reading ruled part of the day. There was ice cream. There was
cake. There were doggy cuddles and a bunny in the yard. All is good.
