It was another day lost to lord knows what. It was after 8:00 when Kiki stood on the bed, gently suggesting with her rough tongue on my forehead that it was high time I got myself out of bed. The household rule with pets is “if you can tell me what you want, you can have it,” so I got up.
After the coffee and dressing in jeans and a long sleeve tee
shirt there was the presentation of treats to Kiki. This is why she is
concerned with both ends of my sleeping schedule. She gets treats before I
retire to the bed each night, and again shortly after I get up in the morning.
And I’m pretty sure that is why she cares about when I get up.
Anyway, it was a regular day at home. Two years ago when I
still had a job, the Friday before Labor Day weekend would have been spent in
the 4th floor office. There might have been plans for after-work
drinks and apps with a colleague. The
whole day would have had a lighter vibe knowing that Monday was a day off.

After the walk and the fetching of the mail, a trip was made
to WalMart for ice cream and to look for a table game I was recently introduced
to that is enough fun that I want it. I think it will be a fun way to alternate
with Yahtzee when Mom, Sis, and I have our game afternoons, and on Christmas
Eve when we gather to eat and play games.
At the big retailer, ice cream, potato chips, and some random art supplies were found, but not the game. The optical shop was open so I popped in to look for frames similar to some I found online that are too large for my face according to the product specs. There was nothing I liked.
The absence of the game on the shelf was not a big deal, as it was already in my online cart with the behemoth online sales site, with delivery for Saturday. I pushed the button to buy the item as soon as I got home. Well, after I ate some salted caramel ice cream and potato chips, which is one of the finest combinations of creamy and crispy, salty and sweet known to my palate.
