The annual meeting at work was this morning, and five of us from our team volunteered to be parking lot greeters to help direct people to a committee meeting before the annual meeting, and any guests arriving for the annual meeting afterward.
The weather looked promising at 7:00 this morning. It wasn’t
raining, it wasn’t wretchedly cold. At 7:30, as I walked to the car to leave for work, rain
drops began to splat down. The weirdest thing about leaving early for work is
that it seems to take significantly longer to arrive. This morning the slowdown
was school buses in addition to the usual knuckleheads with auto-body dysmorphia
thinking they can squeeze into places that don’t exist and blocking the
intersections. There was some grumbling.
Parking lot greeter, ready and waiting. |
The parking lot escort activity went by quickly and soon enough, we were back at our desks and logged into the meeting. Our department head surprised us by offering to by us all pizza for lunch to thank us for helping. It was delicious.
The weather mood swings continued all day. Briefly, the downpour
slamming onto the roof was accompanied by thunder. Then it was sunny. And rainy
again. The cycle repeated all afternoon. It’s supposed to be cloudy with
rain most of the week. It sure will keep things from being dull.
