Class tonight revealed some of the many patterns in the Finnish language. There are answer word endings that beautifully match the questions. The question word “missa” for “in where” has answers that match with the ending “ssa.” The question word “mista” for “from where” has answers with the ending “sta.”
Patterns are fun. And yes, there are multiple question words with corresponding answers depending upon if it's from, to, or in some place. Bonus, most of the question words begin with "mi."
The drive to class was along the country road route, thank
you very much for the scenic tour, Waze. Finally! The road is winding, trees are budding, and the traffic was
light. Overall, a great trip.
For the past two classes, things go well for me in the beginning.
The synapses are firing, the vocabulary is flowing like the stream outside, the
verbs are conjugating and all is well. After our coffee/tea break is another story
altogether. All mental momentum ceases and I can barely remember my name, never
mind anything else. Another of life’s mysteries.
