“Remoted” Day 352 (Wednesday)

Average leftovers!
It was an exciting, normal, average day and I couldn’t have been happier. No creatures of the house were unwell. There were no messes of sickness to be cleaned. Breakfast was the generally preferred dry granola bar, eaten without jaw pain. Lunch was leftover noodles and sauce and ground pretend meat substitute, topped with American Cheese and eaten without jaw issues beyond a tiny twinge once.

Work was the usual two steps forward, one step back except for the project pieces that actually made it out the door and off the list. For now, anyway. If there is one thing I’ve learned, even when a project is “done,” it doesn’t mean it is DONE done. Sometimes projects reanimate like zombies months after being finished, delivered, filed, and forgotten. It certainly keeps it interesting.

Dog butts!
After the ordinary day of working, it was an ordinary evening of sitting on the couch with a magical twist. The dogs were laying with their butts touching. Again! The situation started with Winston growling his displeasure at Moose’s proximity, and then just going to sleep. They stayed on the couch like that for a couple hours of back-to-back new Punky Brewster episodes on Peacock.

I loved the dogs almost cuddling. I really wanted to love Punky Brewster as much as the original show back in the day, but it just isn’t happening. I like some of the costuming for some of the characters. I'm thrilled at the return of high waisted pants and saying good bye to butt cracks, and there are so many Doc Martens and Chuck Ts to covet. But the laugh track is annoying and the whole show feels forced. It’s entirely possible that the pandemic, the isolation, and the deterioration of social skills have resulted in the disappearance of my sense of humor, which is affecting my ability to enjoy Punky Brewster. My sense of contentment and enjoyment seems to be limited to dogs napping with butts touching after an ordinary day.

Sometimes an ordinary, nondescript day is exactly what is needed. Today was one of those days.
