“Remoted – Hybrid” – Day 722 (Tuesday) – time

The year is marching along at a steady pace. There is a saying that “time flies when you are having fun,” but I can tell you, it flies even when you aren’t having so much fun. Even when you (ok, it's really me) can’t remember the last time you (<cough> me) felt vibrant and alive, time still flies.

At night, while doing my current favorite activity (sleeping, preceded by reading), time really flies. And to think I used to believe that sleeping was a waste of time. Of course, back then there was a social life with places to go, people to see, bands to hear, dates, classes, second jobs, film to process, photos to print, and art exhibits to prepare for. Now, I mostly just work the one job, eat all the things, write, read, and sleep.

Sort of Swedish meatballs
and pasta twirls.
The second favorite activity (eating) provides the fuel to last until it’s time for sleeping again. Today’s menu included homemade soup with grilled cheese for lunch and sort-of Swedish-ish meatballs with twirly pasta for supper. The meatballs are "sort-of" and "Swedish-ish" because there was no recipe used, and frozen Italian meatballs used because that's what was in the freezer. Now the evening challenge is to continue not devouring all the Girl Scout cookies bought from a colleague’s daughter.

Adulting has been in full force the past few days. Sleep schedules have been sensible. There was grocery shopping, plus multiple meal cooking and laundry done on Sunday. Stray items have been returned to proper places in the house. Restraint was exercised with the Girl Scout cookies, potato chips, and ice cream, which were not devoured like a hungry jackal, and with social media  where a few annoying people have "snoozed for 30 days" to avoid the urge to engage in arguments.

Perhaps the greatest singular feat has been the completion and submission of the tax returns. Now the refunds are eagerly awaited. Dreaming about the federal refund has commenced. It’s going to be hard to know what to do with the $5. A cupcake? A cup of coffee? A gallon of gas? A treasure trove of ramen bricks? Play the lottery? The intriguing Dollar Buy store in downtown Lowell could yield a multiple item haul. Oh, the possibilities. Such exciting times.
