There was a bunny this morning, sitting just inside the open gate to the back yard. Bunny was just a few feet away, but as Winston and I approached, the bunny sprinted halfway across the yard, then froze.
Bunny! |
Bunny sat in the middle of the yard motionless for a couple minutes while Winston did his
business and then wandered the yard a bit. Bunny was aware of us, but Winston was
completely unaware of Bunny.
It was impossible to tell if Bunny is missing the chunk of brown and white tail found in the driveway recently.
As I guided Winston back towards the house with soft whistles and foot taps when he started straying, Bunny relaxed from his hyper
alert pose. Then newly relaxed Bunny wandered about, dining on lawn greens.
When it was time for my own dining, a fresh egg from a friend’s chicken was fried and paired with a slice of provolone between slices of Tuscan bread. The avoidance of grocery shopping has meant an absence of salad greens in the refrigerator. Luckily for Bunny, there are no greens growing in the lawn tempting enough for me to want to take.
Busted. |
Supper was mac and cheese, the perfect three-minute
microwave dish to tackle sudden hunger. Just like Bunny, I appreciate the readily
available food.
