The office-office has an arc window that provides a view to life. From the window we check for active windshield wipers and wet sidewalks to know if we need rain protection. Attire of people on the street is assessed to determine if jackets and sweaters should be added or removed for comfort outside. The clues to life outside seen from our window are a real benefit to being on the top floor of the building. When storms roll in, it’s dramatic and spectacular.
The weather changes, but the permanent view is a brick building across the street. Pre-remoting, it often featured a shirtless man posing in a window with his foot up on the windowsill. Since the return to the office, I’ve been told he is still across the street, but I haven’t seen him. My new desk space has a different flight path to the water cooler and my view of the window/stage and the frequently shirtless man is minimized. I am not sad about this.
