“Remoted – Hybrid” – Day 989 (Thursday) – balance

The weather hasn’t been that cold, as in, not sub-zero, and mostly normal-ish 30s and 40s with indoor temperatures of the high 60s and low 70s, and yet I am freezing. On remote days, I’ve taken to wearing a lightweight hat indoors. Today, the wardrobe was a base layer, a pullover sweater, and a polyfill vest, with a lightweight hat. It was ginger and turmeric tea all day, soup for lunch, and rice with vegetables, ground meat substitute, and Sezchuan sauce. I am so sick of being cold when it isn’t even that cold out.

Bunny!
Against the back drop of being cold and chugging hot liquids, the workday was filled with hiccups and minor aggravations. There was a vendor screw-up with a delivery of four awkward and heavy sign fixtures. Instead of being delivered to the address of our mail room and marked to the attention of our facilities team according to the instructions provided when ordered, they were marked to my attention and left in the foyer of our main office outside the office of the CEO. And I was working remotely, sending emails and texts and making phone calls to sort it out. And swearing.

There were other mix ups at another vendor and sudden unknown new issues with internal systems that used to work and suddenly don’t. A wellness course I signed up for at work was cancelled. There were questions directed to our department that were far enough beyond the scope of marketing to be laughable.

It all had the potential be interesting, or at the very least, mildly amusing, but I was too busy feeling annoyed. Luckily, as so often happens, after some grumbling, I got over it and moved on.

The interest in cooking returned tonight with the tasty supper concoction, and that felt promising. There was a sweet brown bunny in the front yard this afternoon as I took in from the front steps the first and only Christmas gift ordered so far that arrived today. The remainder of the butter pecan ice cream had to be eaten to make room in the freezer for the latest containers of soup stock. So overall, the day had enough bright spots to balance the aggravations. S’all good, man.
