It was an accidentally productive day. There was no plan to accomplish anything and no to-do list, but despite my most negligent planning, things were done.
There was a small amount of snow overnight which then changed to rain, resulting in a wet and slushy mess. The front walk was submerged, and the end of the driveway resembled a wading pool. Three times, as the dogs went out, I suddenly found myself outside pushing the water with the snow shovel. In the course of the shovel sessions, a trench was cleared in the slush to facilitate water travel to the storm drain. Each time, while carefully looking for high spots on which to step, it was obvious that my slip-on backless shoes are definitely not appropriate for shoveling water. If the shoveling had been planned, the footwear would have been appropriate. The water flowed freely outside, but inside, the basement remained remarkably dry. While admiring its beautiful state of dryness, I thanked the basement for its current state of not-wetness.

The Christmas trees were stripped to the lights and packed away in an orderly manner. Later, an apple strawberry crisp practically baked itself.
It
was like being possessed by the spirit of Betty Crocker or June Cleaver or some
other domestic icon. I kind of hope she comes back tomorrow. There is still a
lot of stuff that needs to be done around here.
