It was lovely sleeping weather and after hitting “stop” on the cell phone alarm at 6:30, I slept solidly until 8:15. I considered staying in bed longer but guilted myself out of bed instead. For the past few years, the only times I've stayed in bed all morning were because I was sick. Maybe someday I'll lounge in bed until noon simply because I can.
It was a quiet morning but in the afternoon I called Mom to
ask if she was interested in a trip to Ocean State Job Lot. I wanted diced
tomatoes and nail polish remover. Mom wanted cushions for her wood dining
chairs.
The polish remover was located and a bottle of polish in an aqua color I don’t have in the many bottles in the bathroom closet. My regular
stops in the store usually include bath linens and dishes. There were no big bath towels in colors that work for my
house and no soup bowls in the style I like. There were also no long sleeve sleep tee shirts
which are a lighter weight fabric than regular tee shirts. For the first time in ages,
the grocery section was a disappointment with shelves less full than usual
and no canned vegetables to be found.

After a lackluster supper of microwaved previously frozen
rice, beans, and salsa, a trip to Aldi was considered. It would have required
putting on shoes and a coat and spending more money and the idea was quickly dismissed. The
mission would have been one or two items, but it almost never works out that way at
Aldi and the cover charge usually works out to be about $50.
