random thoughts - Day 2,045 (Wednesday) - tingling, rain, and sun

Morning rain on
the skylight.
Since the visit to the spine and pain center it's been a waiting game. The aches, pain, and throbbing improved, but the tingling and occasional numbness is worse. Initially, it was from elbow to fingertips, but now it's shoulder to fingertips. There has been waiting to hear from the physical therapy group and worse, waiting to get an x-ray. Normally, I would have gone from the spine center to radiology, but that wasn't possible the day of my appointment due to the system outage. The problem with the phones and other systems continues and I haven't been able to verify I could have an x-ray done with the ongoing issues.

Today, I was awake unfortunately early. After unsuccessfully attempting sleep, at 4:54 I checked the time, conceded defeat, and got up. There was no point waiting around in bed. It was raining again, and it pinged off the skylights and puddled in the dips in the street.

Coffee was made. BBC News, my current morning obsession, was consumed. I called the radiology center to see if I could get in for an x-ray. And again, it was unsuccessful. The department number had a busy signal before disconnecting. The hospital main number had a message that the voice mailbox for the number dialed has not been set up. I reached out to the spine center via the patient portal and it was confirmed that x-rays are still only being done for urgent situations. It was back to the couch with the ice pack, thankful to have the precious intel before driving across town. I may expire from old age before I get the x-ray.

Cloudy with sun creeping in.
By 11:15, the clouds were moving on and the sun was edging its way in. The sky looked more interesting and slightly more dramatic than when it was gray ceiling with rain. The weather was improving but the day was dominated by an undercurrent of tiredness and tingling discomfort.

The new, barefoot saving traffic area heat registers arrived and were installed in the kitchen and laundry room. Yesterday, the price dropped from $17 to $10 each and I pounced. Soup was made. The list for the handyman was written out. Tomorrow we will review the issues and formulate a plan.
